IT Supplies Announces Winner of 2nd Annual Calendar Photo Contest!

IT Supplies Announces Winner of 2nd Annual Calendar Photo Contest

Daniel Anderson, Ellison Bay, WI, has been selected as the grand-prize winner of IT Supplies Annual Calendar Photo Contest. Anderson has won a prize bundle valued at over $2000, and his photo will adorn the cover of the 2014 IT Supplies calendar.  His winning photo, “Cairn and Candles” captures a seven-foot tall cairn made from beach rocks, with votive candles glowing up the structure taken just after sunset.

“A rocky beach near my home hosts dozens of whimsical structures built from the beach rocks.  They usually last only until the next storm so I visit the beach reasonably often to see if anything new has been built that may be interesting to photograph.  On this particular late afternoon I was looking at this seven foot tall cairn and noticed a few candles on it although they were hard to see in the daylight.  Shortly after sunset, I re-visited that cairn again and saw how the candles were now glowing on the individual stones and I knew this could make a very interesting composition.  It was the last photograph I took on that visit and it needed the near-darkness to reveal the full effect of the candles glow,” said Anderson.

Bob Benson of Boulder, Colo., received an Honorable Mention Award for his black-and-white image “Gary Church” and won a $250 IT Supplies Gift Card. Three other finalists, Don L Weltzien, James Bouden, and Elizabeth Owen were also awarded a $100 Gift Card from IT Supplies.

“The task of judging the contest is tough. The quality of photos is great — and the range of imagery quite diverse. It’s exciting to see all of the imaginative photographers’ work,” said Jeff Lucido, Director of Sales.

The 2nd annual photo contest, which is co-sponsored by many of the distinguished brands available through IT Supplies, received entries from photographers from across the U.S. Contestants submitted photographs which they had printed and mounted to a supplied framing solution included in the “Photo Contest Kit”. Travel Portraits, Outdoor Scenes, Buildings, Water Scenes, People, Objects and Spontaneous Moments made up the collection of images. Judging consisted of two rounds of evaluation based on creativity and photographic quality.
