HP just announced a new Android App for their ePrint and Share utility. This is a cloud-based printing solution for anyone looking to simplify their printing as well as accessing and viewing your prints directly from your smartphone or tablet. The app will also let you store files via your HP ePrint and Share account and view the viles directly from your smartphone.

In order to take advantage of the printing aspect of this application, you will need an HP Designjet Printer to output your prints. Your HP Designjet Printer must also be connected via a network connection to take advantage of all of the benefits this app has to offer.

Check out the Google Play Store to download the app.

Ryan E. – Webmaster

How long have you been with IT Supplies Inc?
I have worked at IT Supplies since December of 2009.

What exactly is a Webmaster?
As a Webmaster I am involved in site maintenance and creation of webpages, along with online marketing activities and promotions.

If you could have dinner with any living/deceased individual who would you choose and why?
If I could have dinner with any individual I would choose Theodore Roosevelt. The reason being, he’s easily one of the most influential and interesting American public figures of all time. Anyone that takes a bullet to the chest and still gives an hour and a half long speech can probably entertain.

What are you looking forward to this summer?
This summer I am looking forward to embracing the warm weather and outdoor activities it provides.

What’s your favorite thing about working for IT Supplies Inc?
My favorite thing about working at IT Supplies is the fact that I am never bored with my work. I am always working on new projects and being pushed to learn more about myself, the business and my profession on a daily basis. The knowledge I’ve gained working at IT Supplies cannot be obtained working in a larger corporate environment. I also enjoy working with the people here, everyone has a different personality that meshes with our work culture quite well.

Recently we had the chance to attend one of The UPS Store meetings and joined some other vendors as well showing off what products we had that they could offer their customers.

We had a great experience learning what sort of ideas these stores had and the different products that they were looking for. Besides the usual banners and posters that a typical UPS Store would provide, many of the different stores showed a lot of interest in our StretchIT Canvas Gallery Wrap system. At first glance, the attendees had no idea that they could be offering a full canvas gallery wrap to their customers by using their own photos!

For more info on the canvas wrap’s, click here for all of the product info.

Some things that surprise and inspire are found in the least likely places. Places that have the ability to transform you to another time and a completely different world. I spent an afternoon at such a place. It was an abandoned farm left desolate by its owners, only to leave behind beautiful structures and haunted dark corners. This was the first “destination shoot” I’ve attempted of its kind and I count it as a success. The place held emotion that haunted my conscience for the next week. It gave me a window into what a world looks like after its occupiers have left it. Even though there are no people living on the farm, there is still a presence of the mark they had left, the structures built, yet now, crumbling.

I went along with a friend- pictured above. He is a little more qualified in the photography arena and helped move me into directions I would not have taken if I had been alone. With that being said I would like to present the shoot. This will be the main format I will be using while trying to move this Blog forward. As I grow I want to focus on the photos themselves, what I was trying to capture and what I actually did capture. Getting feedback from the readers is essential so please feel free to start a conversation about the shoot.

Enjoy.

I was able to get a descent shot of the barn at a distance with the greenness of the grass surrounding.

This was one of the only places on the farm with open doors. Here is what we found. I doubt this canoe has been used in over twenty years. The walls had this great look to them of complete decay.

It had this gorgeous lane connecting the two smaller structures. I took it about fifteen different ways the sepia tone seemed to look best.

There are typically three finish options to choose from when printing on canvas; matte, satin and gloss. A company by the name of IJ Technologies-based out of St. Louis, MO- decided to add an additional effect to their new Black Diamond AgX Metallic Canvas. They started with a silver based water-resistant canvas and added a high-gloss inkjet receptive coating. This combination gave the AgX canvas a high gloss metallic look, similar to the metallic glossy photo papers.

This glossy inkjet coating gives the canvas a look reminiscent of a traditional glossy canvas. In fact, printing on this canvas requires the same process as any other glossy inkjet canvas printing. You would use the same ICC profile as you would on a gloss canvas (for example, the Epson Exhibition Gloss Canvas). After printing, the canvas will come out of the printer completely dry.

Applying a top coating to the canvas is going to be a little bit different than a traditional canvas. The water based top coats from either Clearstar or PremierArt have a milky finish. If this coating is applied to the Black Diamond AgX Canvas, the metallic look will be slightly diluted due to the opaqueness of the coating.

It is recommended spray the canvas with either the PremierArt Print Shield Spray or the ClearJet FineArt Solvent Gloss Spray. These will provide protection to the canvas from any scuffing, scratching, moisture, or UV rays. If the canvas is going to be gallery wrapped, there will be less protection from cracking, however this canvas will still hold up fairly well if being exhibited as a gallery wrap.

Being a specialty canvas, IJ Technologies Black Diamond AgX Metallic Canvas is a tad more expensive than most. Fortunately, there is a 24”x10’ sample roll available for to try before committing to a full roll.

Looking to create a professional panoramic canvas gallery wrap from your landscape photographs? Local photographer Robert Rydin is a landscape and portrait photographer who loves to shoot panoramic photography. A problem he was having was getting his prints on canvas to be gallery wrapped. Not only that, Robert wanted a solution that was easy enough to use without having to purchase any additional canvas stretching equipment.

To shoot photos, Robert uses a Nikon D3X. Robert prints on an Epson Stylus Pro 9900 44” printer with the Epson Exhibition Canvas Matte and finishes the canvas with the Clearshield Type C Satin coating.

We came up with a solution for Robert by using our StretchIT Gallery Wrap Professional Bars to wrap his canvas. In order to accommodate for the larger size, Robert used the Professional Bar Extenders to connect two stretcher bars together, creating one long stretcher bar. The gallery wrap was then assembled using the same method as video instruction guide.

In the end, the gallery wraps were stunning. See below for a couple of photos of the finished product. The canvases are wrapped in a plastic covering from ProArtPack.com to protect the prints during delivery.
